Troop 362's Chartered Organization is Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Evansville, Indiana. Since 2005, the troop strives to provide the best learning environment for our Scouts, living by the Scout Law. Our goal is to develop boy leaders who can not only learn new skills and visit new places, but to do this in a safe environment where experiences will be fulfilling and enjoyable.

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Our Troop strives to live these values daily. We hope that by obeying the Scout Law we will serve God, our country and our family in a manner that enriches our lives and the lives of those we touch.

THE PATRIOT PATROL

The new "Patriot" Patrol got busy designing their new Patrol Flag. These new Scouts have fit right in and are making the transition to Boy Scouts an easy one. Next stop...Tenderfoot.

Every Scouting activity moves boys toward three basic aims: Character Development, Citizenship Training, and Mental & Physical Fitness.

Character is what you do when no one is looking.  Character encompasses a boy's personal qualities, values, and outlook. Scouting strives to help a boy grow in the following ways:

  • He becomes confident but is not conceited
  • He is honest with himself and others
  • His personal appearance shows that he respects himself
  • He develops special skills and interests
  • He can take care of himself, especially in emergencies
  • He can be counted upon to do his best, even in difficult situations
  • He practices his religious beliefs
  • He respects other people regardless of their differences

Camping - From your first tenderfoot campout to the rugged journeys you might already have taken deep into the backcountry, camping is Scouting at its best. Learn how to make yourself comfortable outdoors for a night or more, and you'll be ready for all kinds of BSA adventures.

The long, warm days of summer are perfect for campouts, but don't put away your tent and camp stove just because cold weather has arrived. Snow can turn familiar countryside into a wintry wilderness just right for overnight trips that might include snowshoeing, skiing, building igloos, and tracking animals.

Master the skills needed for camping and you'll have the knowledge to take care of yourself in the outdoors and to take care of the outdoors, too.
